Constable Country Autumn Hues Tour

A Scenic Day Out Through England’s Most Beloved Pastoral Landscapes

Step into a real-life painting this autumn as we journey into the heart of Constable Country — the idyllic landscape that inspired one of Britain’s greatest artists,

John Constable. With rolling fields brushed in amber, quiet rivers framed with golden trees, and charming historic villages, this region becomes a masterpiece of

colour during the autumn months. Enjoy the area’s rich artistic heritage, and be treated to a delicious traditional cream tea — the perfect English treat.

Constable Country centres around the Suffolk–Essex border, home to the scenes immortalised by John Constable in the early 1800s.

His paintings — including The Hay Wain, Flatford Mill, and Dedham Vale — captured the gentle beauty of the English countryside, earning the region worldwide fame.

Today, little has changed. The villages, meadows, and rivers remain wonderfully preserved, offering an authentic step back in time.

You’ll See the Very Places Constable Painted:

Flatford Mill —

Constable’s father once owned this mill, and the area looks almost exactly as it did 200 years ago. The Hay Wain Cottage (Willy Lott’s House)

The iconic building from one of the world’s most famous paintings

Dedham Vale — A designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Dedham Village — Georgian houses, medieval churches, and charming lanes Every corner feels like walking into an easel. We visit the key villages

and landscapes of Constable Country with free time in Flatford and Dedham to explore historic sites, scenic walks, art exhibitions, and riverside views

An optional extra is a delicious traditional English cream tea, complete with scones, jam, clotted cream, and a warming pot of tea

Autumn in Constable Country is one of the most breath-taking times of year to visit.
